Hey Sabrina! Thanks for your great comment! I do the same thing - usually to find more detailed instructions or a recipe, for example. I also agree with what you said about missing out on the other action by only following people we know. I go into categories I like and will follow people's boards who have a good collection going, whether I know them or not in order to keep my experience interesting. What I'm most interested in is seeing how Pinterest will attract more male users. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts!

I'm slowly getting into the pinterest social network. I really enjoy how it's broadening the variety of websites I visit everyday. If a pin is interesting I usually visit the website from which it was originally pinned. It's definitely a good way for companies to get the attention of consumers today, who for the most part want to get information quickly and effortlessly. However, by actively following only certain pinners and boards we could be missing out on the rest of the pinterest action.. that's why I like how each category has their own pins, I think it opens up the discussion a little bit more.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Andrea! I know you're a busy guy, so thanks for taking the time to comment. I agree with what you said about this being easier to use than a site like Delicious - we are an image based society, so great pictures of products, art, fashion, food, people, etc, are quick to grab the attention of potential target audiences. It will be interesting to see how non-image based industries will use it to attract attention... Cheers! - Leah

Hey Josh! Always enjoy your comments here! I use Delicious, as well, but for more word-based bookmarking, i.e. interesting articles, reports, blog posts, etc. For videos, I use VHX, though I do sometimes save them in Delicious, as well (or just mark them as favs on YouTube). Pinterest, besides bookmarking images, is really inspirational to me. It's like browsing through the best magazines, but only dealing with images instead of full articles and "ads" (though you could argue people are using Pinterest to advertise their product indirectly). Regardless, if I see an image I like - be it a recipe/picture of food (and we all know how much I love taking photos of food), a quotation, outfit, or home decor - I like it, repin it, and then visit the site where it's originally from. I'm interested to see how it will progress/transform over the next couple of years. Thanks, as always, for sharing your thoughts! - Leah

At first it might seem pointless, but if you think about it...it's a concept that can actually work. Simple enough to be used in a variety of fields and easier than classic bookmarking sites like delicious - Indeed I love and use Delicious on a daily basis, but this is a different environment. It's still early, but it's spreading fast. Curious to see which new doors it will open.

It seems pretty interesting, but I don't think is of much use to me right now. For the most similar thing I need, I use Delicious. On the other hand, if I were to join it, it would be yet another social network that I'm on, with none of my friends on it (Path, anyone?). But if people are finding it useful and relevant, then I hope it's good for them!

Leah, this is an awesome article written by a very talented and inspiring writer. I never had the pleasure of knowing Gina that well, but I do believe I had the pleasure of running around and playing a few games of freeze-tag with her and her sister in Rosie's backyard a long time ago - :)
I'm really looking forward to seeing you and meeting Andrea over the holidays! xoxo Bacione!

Hey Josh, Now that you're out of the spam filter... thanks for commenting ;) I like the holy monks example. It's easy to feel like our lives our separated into different roles, the teacher, the student, the employee, the artist, the significant other, the relative, etc - and even more so now that we also have to deal with a digital life and a real world life - so this quotation was a great reminder that the true art of living is when work and play is one in the same. Pursuing what we're about so no one can tell if we're working or playing is such a pleasant thought to me... and a good motto to live by. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. I'm sorry you got filtered!!!

Hi Dr. Makay, Nice to hear your thoughts. Thanks for reading and leaving a comment. Glad to know you're a Mac guy - they really are incredible and dependable machines. Are you going to buy the iPhone 4S? It was kind of ironic that I had just finished watching the Dylan documentary right before I heard the news and then read Jobs had dated Baez and was a huge Dylan fan. That's awesome you've seen him and Baez in concert. I bet they were all great shows. Where did Dylan play in Toledo? Thanks again for writing on here. Cheers!

This is a very, very thoughtful message, Leah. Sad and inspiring. Thank you for sharing it with us. By the way, I have always been a Mac guy, with my latest purchase a MacBook Pro. I have also been to Joan Baez concerts and bought my first Baez recording in 1963. I most recently caught Dylan for the 5th time this summer in Toledo.

Great quote. Reminds me of my goals, that my spiritual life, artistic life, teaching career, and social life aren't separate things, but all one big reflection of love of humanity and God. That who I am is not dependent on my Facebook profile, but rather who I am is always who I am--warts and all. I'm always working, I'm always playing. No one should be able to tell the difference in my different "lives.". Serious and holy monks, for instance, are always serious and holy monks, even when they are playing football with neighborhood kids, or performing liturgy and prayers, or walking alone in the woods. A teacher, a monk, a passionate person--whoever they are--is that same teacher, monk, tech engineer, painter, etc. whether they are working or playing.

Thanks for posting that!

It's great to see both her and Jason's adventures. Hope you and your family are doing well. Thanks again for reading and writing.

Lovely story, Leah. Technology is so wonderful. I enjoy being able to keep abreast of the goings-on of our friends and relatives. Hope you and Steph are able to connect while she is in Europe. Everyone is looking forward to your visit to Toledo in November. Have a safe journey.

Leah, that was beautiful...it sure brings back memories. We found it very moving, it's a blog that everyone should read.
Love, Grandma and Grandpa
P.S. And, yes I still use that computer for my private use.

Hey Jason - thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts. It is about the human connection. As much as I like to complain about how tech keeps us in our own little world some times, it still is an amazing way to communicate and build/maintain meaningful (not just business) relationships with others and express ourselves. Can't wait to talk about the nostalgia of Facebook and Angry Birds one day... ;)
