
Leah D’Emilio has been working in various aspects of media and communications as a project manager, producer, director, writer and host since 2005. From traditional to online media and communications, she has the experience and knowledge to develop and execute communication strategies and tactics to effectively build positive reputations for individuals, brands and organizations both online and in the real world.
Leah D’Emilio will be joining Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Western Regional Medical Center in Goodyear, Arizona in May of 2012 as a Public Relations Specialist.
Known within the online community for her production work with Mahalo.com and Rocketboom.com, Leah has hosted, produced and/or directed over 500 web videos between 2008 – 2011. G4TV recognized Leah as one of the “Top 10 Women of the Web” in June of 2008. Eight of her videos have over 1 million views, with the most viewed video breaking 11 million hits. While at Rocketboom.com, Leah had the opportunity to work on branded content with VitaminWater, Ford, and Coca-Cola. She also directed Weird Al Yankovic from Sony Music in an episode of Know Your Meme, which he won a Streamy Award for in 2010.
Leah most recently worked with the international digital creative agency, itive.net, as their CCO and project manager.
In addition to online media and communications, Leah has worked for several traditional broadcast outlets. She was the first “Face of FOX Toledo“, an on-air personality to promote programming and community events. After working with WUPW-36 (FOX), Leah was offered a position to co-create, produce and host her own sports program for Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN). She also was a substitute traffic reporter for WTOL-11 (CBS). Leah continues to work as an actor, host, and directs/produces original content.
Leah earned her Master of Arts (MA) degree in Communication Studies from Bowling Green State University, where she studied and researched various categories of communication – from organizational communication to the political economy of mass communication, as well as humanistic and social scientific research methods. She was granted a full scholarship for her Masters program and worked as a graduate assistant teaching undergraduates Interpersonal Communication courses and assisted professor Dr. Lynda Dixon with research on the relationship between language and culture in the Cherokee Nation. During her undergraduate program, Leah competed on the BGSU Speech Team placing #1 nationally in several categories and was granted over $25,000 in scholarship money based on her academics and speech performances.
